(Nelson Mandela) Dear Asha Patron, On behalf of the entire Asha for Education volunteer team, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for making a donation to us this year.  Asha for Education is a unique non-profit in that it is a 100% volunteer driven organization. None of our 1000+ volunteers who make Asha happen get paid. This helps us in ensuring that close to 100% of the contributions that we receive from donors go directly to supporting the projects in India. So far, Asha has supported more than 800 projects across 24 states in India, with $24 million sent to projects since inception. Just in 2011 alone, Asha sent $2.3 million to more than 200 projects in India, which resulted in supporting the education of more than 50,000 kids. We anticipate to increase that support in years to come – thanks to the kindness and generosity of donors like you. Are you traveling to India this Holiday season or anytime in the near future? Visiting projects will provide you with an enriching life experience along with a first-hand understanding of the grassroots level issues facing the underprivileged sections of the society in India. (Nelson Mandela) Dear Asha Patron, Once again, the holiday season is upon us!  It is a great time to shop, celebrate, and spend time with our loved ones.  It is also a time to think of and give back to those who are less fortunate.     Here's a heart-wrenching fact on India's children: India is home to an estimated 17 million child laborers, the highest in the world.  Such children engage in labor and are deprived of their childhood, right to education and health.  They have a 'will' to be in school, but have no 'way'.  Education is a key metric in the assessment of a nation's socio-economic development.  We, at Asha for Education, enroll such children in school and provide them with necessary skills they would need to transform their lives, while providing teachers with the necessary skills they would need.  In 2011 alone, we provided support to more than 200 projects in India, and touched lives of more than 50,000 children.  We realize the magnitude of the problem of illiteracy in India is too large to even comprehend, and we will not be able to reach every last child not in school.  As we thank our blessings in this 'season of giving', we seek support from generous donors like you so we can expand our work and continue to make a difference.  You can change the world by giving them a chance to be in school.  100% of your donations are tax deductible and near 100% reaches our projects in India – thanks to the fact that Asha is a 100% volunteer driven organization. Dear Asha Patrons,     Thanks to the enthusiastic support of donors like you, Work an Hour 2012 (our 15th Annual fundraiser) has been successful in raising close to $128,000 from ~850 donors.   We are confident we can reach 100% of our target $150K if we can effectively add the corporate matching donations. Thru the Ages–Sakhi Dance group concert

Sakhi Dance group and Asha for Education, presents “Through the Ages” – an evening of classical Indian dance exploring popular and rare musical compositions. Sakhi is a team of well-established dancers from the New England area that take pleasure in performing together to help a worthy a cause. Sakhi is teaming with “Asha for Education” (Boston Chapter)to help raise funds.

The support that Asha provides for the education of underprivileged children means so much more than just putting students in school. It is about giving them hope for a better future. In fact, in most instances, it is their only hope for a better future. Donate an hour before September 30th and help us give these kids an opportunity for a better life. Please show us your support today.    During the past 10 weeks, we have showcased 13 projects in India that are doing enormous service to empower underprivileged children in India. Thanks to many generous donors, we have raised more than $93,000 so far. But we are still short of our target of $150,000 and we need your help. It takes as little as $35 (Rs.1750) on average to support the education of one child for an year in our 2012 Work an hour projects. As we are in the last three days of our campaign, we are aiming for 1000 donors target.   The problem of illiteracy of more than 100 million children (UNESCO report) can not be solved by a few of us. I strongly believe that education has the power to create the next big revolution in India. Last 6-7 years I am working with a non-profit Asha for Education which supports such projects. This year I am working with a dedicated group of volunteers in a campaign focused on Children with special needs, Rural education and Education of Urban Slums.

Work-An-Hour Campaign ends in 5 days (Sep 30) and we are trying to raise funds enough to support more than 4000 students from 13 projects for a year.
