Dear Asha Patrons,
"We must not for a moment forget, it is a birthright of every individual to receive at least the basic education without which he cannot fully discharge his duties as a citizen"
- Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, India's first Minister of Education.
Sixty six years ago, India gained independence and dreamed of a better future for all her children. Today, we see that dream has come true for many. Among those who were fortunate, many have pledged to give back.
Asha for Education was born out of a similar desire. And today we ask for your support in our pledge to help the less fortunate ones, the disadvantaged and the vulnerable.
Every year, we raise over $100k to fund projects in India though our
Work an Hour campaign. For the past 15 years, we have been reaching closer to our targets not because of one large, wealthy donor. Rather, it is because of thousands of people, just like you, who believe that their contribution makes a difference. And what a monumental difference it makes! Just ask any of the
projects, or the children supported by the projects.
Similar to previous years, our projects are in need of funds - to grow, to sustain, to change or to cope with the increasing costs in India. The money will help them hire and train new teachers, buy computers and new benches for their students. It will help them to keep the students in schools and thereby continue their march to make India an equitable place for everyone and not just for a select few.
As you think about all we have achieved today, as a people and as a nation, spare a thought for those who are not as fortunate.
Your contribution will help close the gap.
One way to maximize your impact is to avail of company matching. Find out today if your company will supplement your donation.
