Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.  - Malcolm Forbes Dear Asha Patron,   With the help of generous donors like you, we have raised over $80,000 so far as part of our Work An Hour 2011 campaign to help provide education to more than 4000 underprivileged students.    As we are in the last three days of our campaign, we are looking to raise additional $20,000.   Children who stay in school for a couple of years will be able to read and write and are less likely to be child laborers or exploited as adults. Its disappointing to know Cricinfo updates their commentary off a TV broadcast. The writer got a bit carried away and let out this secret :

Does that mean in between the TV black out they were copying stuff off other websites??!! This shows the sorry state of media (one of the reasons I don’t believe in these reports)

Funds Required: $248,000     Funds Raised: $63,840 The silence of good men is more dangerous than the brutality of bad men.  - Martin Luther King Alo and Akanksha, children of sex workers, never imagined that they would complete their secondary education, go on to college and accepted in mainstream society. Nishitha, an organization in West Bengal made this possible. Education has radically altered their lives and it can give thousands of children in a similar situation a hope (ASHA) to stand on their own feet. These girls can help shape the future of our society and its more important than ever to see that they are educated.Aadarana, Nishtha, Mahila Vvikas and ABWU are showcased in Work an Hour 2011 that protect and educate girls in India. Vareching comes from a physically abusive home, plagued with mental illness and extreme poverty. Against all these odds, he is studying at the TEP School - along with 500 other children - in a remote and impoverished region of Manipur. The well being of the people from remote areas is vital for functioning and well being of the society as a whole.
