"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." (Nelson Mandela)

Dear Asha Patron,

Once again, the holiday season is upon us!  It is a great time to shop, celebrate, and spend time with our loved ones.  It is also a time to think of and give back to those who are less fortunate.

Here's a heart-wrenching fact on India's children: India is home to an estimated 17 million child laborers, the highest in the world.  Such children engage in labor and are deprived of their childhood, right to education and health.  They have a 'will' to be in school, but have no 'way'.  Education is a key metric in the assessment of a nation's socio-economic development.  We, at Asha for Education, enroll such children in school and provide them with necessary skills they would need to transform their lives, while providing teachers with the necessary skills they would need.  In 2011 alone, we provided support to more than 200 projects in India, and touched lives of more than 50,000 children.

We realize the magnitude of the problem of illiteracy in India is too large to even comprehend, and we will not be able to reach every last child not in school.  As we thank our blessings in this 'season of giving', we seek support from generous donors like you so we can expand our work and continue to make a difference.

You can change the world by giving them a chance to be in school.  100% of your donations are tax deductible and near 100% reaches our projects in India – thanks to the fact that Asha is a 100% volunteer driven organization.

Best Regards,

Asha for Education
